Simply breathe into the vent and watch one of the 3 indicators light up immediately. This invaluable gadget also has a countdown timer to make sure you don't overrun on your parking and an orange LED flashlight with a keychain so you can open your car door in the dark. Requires 2 x AAA batteries not supplied. The detector is an indicator only and should not be used in a serious decision to drive.
