Weighing only 5.6KG, the A Bike folding bicycle is as unique as it is practical. Invented by Sir Clive Sinclair, the bike looks like a letter ‘A’ when in use and this is where it takes it’s name. Lightweight and extremely compact, the bike can accommodate users between 4’ 9” to 6’3” and up to 85KG in weight. Despite it’s unique shape, the A Bike rides like a normal bicycle and folds away in about 10 seconds thanks to it’s unique 3 click telescopic mechanism. It can be stored in the supplied carry bag, neatly and compact, which makes it perfect to store when not in use. This unique folding feature is what makes the bike ideal for taking with you on the train, tube, bus or even on an aeroplane if travelling long distances. Due to the materials used, the bike is extremely lightweight. The majority of the frame is made from heat treated aluminium and high strength reinforced glass fibre. Small drive axles are used to ensure the twin chain gearing system, which is one of the heaviest parts of a traditional bike, remains as light as possible. The high performance 90psi tyres ensure a smooth and comfortable ride, even on rough surfaces, and the specially designed lightweight semi circular brakes will ensure you’ll stop when you need to. The bike is fitted with two chains, these are encased at the rear of the bike which guarantees to keep grease and dirt off your hands clothes. Finally, the designers of the A Bike haven’t forgot about safety, because it comes fitted with two safety features, a reflector and a bell.
